08.12.2011 Sucre, Bolivia

On search for the best juices and dino's, your way will eventually lead to Sucre. It is the located in the mountains (what a surprise in Bolivia, as it contains only of mountains).

Bolivia actually once looked a lot different from what it does now. It is still an huge country, the size of several European countries together. Bolivia once had access to the sea. In a little miscommunication, otherwise known as war, Chile took the entire stretch along the coast and fused it with it's country. Then there was a rumor about oil in it's south eastern parts and after a dirty war, Brazil took a big part over. During another conflict Paraguay entitled itself for some of Bolivians soil. It seems to me that the Bolivian military sucks!

After our arrival in Sucre we visited the local market, which is a very colorful place. As usual you can buy any and everything. The butcher store with German style sausages caught immediately our attention. We started of with one bread roll filled with fatty deliciousness. The ladies running the store were so interested in my person and we had a long interaction. They were even more delighted when I returned for two mor sausages. I think I made their day and they all had a wide smile on their face.

No meal is completed without dessert. So we made our way for right thing. We met this ladies with their exhibition of colorful desserts. I didn't try it, but loved the presentation.

As we already had lunch, the 25 different kind of potato kinds didn't seem the right choice either.

Then we finally found our destination. Around 15 stands, all equipped with fresh, ripe and sweet fruits and a mixer were waiting for us. You could just have a juice or you could have an ensemble of heavens fruit, yoghurt and whipped cream! What a temptation... You can't resist!

The city itself is neat and clean. A lot bigger then what we expected and we found many different markets during our explorations. Markets for food, for electronics (I was actually able to sell the battery charger and a connection cable for the camera which got stolen from us and have a couple more Bolivianos to deduct from our new one) and markets on the street with all different kind of things, including huge bags of coca leaves.

Then we heard a rumor of dinosaurus sightings here in Sucre. We thought of our young Dino expert Devon, and went on our way. It didn't take us long to find the first one very soon. Must be because of the incredible size...

There they were in full size and making noises and in color (if it's the right one, no living person really knows). Many of them. Scary once with huge eyes, teeth and claws.

I always thought they were extinguished... But that was not all. The reason why we found all this dinosaurs here was that there is this huge wall which was once the beach to a waterhole. The wonder of the nature managed to preserve the footsteps until now. A very impressive sight. I am sure Devon would have loved to sew this firsthand!

The entire location, dinosaurs and surrounding was breathtaking and very interesting. We were happy that nobody saw us as a snack and we made it out safely again. We are glad that we found the steps of the past and could experience it first-foot (firsthand).
