10. - 13.04.2012 Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

Chrisy already had a strange feeling in her stomach before going on the boat. The windy ride in the minivan did not make it better. First with closed eyes to get better and later looking out the front window. That helped as she started to worry about our lives. The maneuvers on this windy road were suicidal. We arrived save in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands and Chrisy got sick in a plastic bag on the street so we searched quickly for a place to stay. After a cup of tea and a couple of crackers and a few movies on TV we both felt better and enjoyed the fact of just relaxing. As it was raining outside we didn't want to go outside anyways!
Also the next day we decided to have a resting day and only walked around Tanah Rata were we had a good lunch at an indian restaurant.

We explored the town and the sunshine on that day and planned a hike for the following day. The Cameroon Highlands are the home of the largest flower of the world. To get there you had to take an expensive tour and we heard from some other tourist that they have been on one and didn't see one at all. So we took a public bus to the next town and went into the highland jungle. It was a very steep track and pretty muddy due to the rain of the last days.

Cameron Highland is about 2000 m altitude and is known for its "cool" climate. It was nice not to have the boiling heat in this hike and we saw some wonderful creations of mother nature.

The views from the top were stunning and breathtaking over the green treetops.

The way down was pretty easy, as we walked on a road. First we passed some vegetable and fruit farms. We soon came into the famous tea plantations of this area. It was magical!

We walked through and towards the "Boh" planation. The walk was long but rewarding. There we were able to see a little of the factory/museum and have afternoon tea.

In the distance we heard the rolling of the thunder and we saw the dark clouds rolling over the lush green hills. So we quickly finished our cuppa and started walking back to the main road. As we were worried to get soaking wet in the soon to come rain we decided to try to hitch hike. The first car stopped, a Malaysian family with one baby, and drove us all the way to Tanah Rata. They were so lovely. We walked back to the hotel and arrived dry, when it started to rain.

The next day we were on our way to Pengang.
