04.06.2012 Mui Ne, Vietnam

We arrived with beautiful weather in Mui Ne. We walked along the beach and watched the kite surfers shoot over the water and fly through the air.

After a fresh seafood dinner, we played some cards so we would be awake to raise our glasses to celebrate another new, healthy and wonderful year for my mum.

Next morning we went to play in the sea. It was nice and warm outside and refreshing in the water. We all had fun.

The waves were pretty strong and we ended up rolling through the sand, including my mum. As she was just sitting there and laughing whilst more waves were rolling in, we got worried and pulled her out of the sand. We all had sand and shells all over us and it took two days to get the last bits washed off from some areas.

For the afternoon we had organized a jeep to drive us around. Our first stop was the "Fairy Stream". An enchanting landscape with grey, red, green, brown and yellow colors and abstract formations. We enjoyed strolling through the water and soaking in the beauty.

Our next stop was at a fishing village where we were able to see some of the fishers go into small nut shells to go out to their boats lying a little away from the shore. There were hundreds of colorful painted boats on the water.

We then stopped at the white sand dunes. After a little walk we arrived at the very top of the highest dune. From there we raced down the sand dunes on rented roof tins.

Chrisy was a true natural and went gracefully and fast down and I only could eat her dust!

For sunset we went to the red sand dunes. The clouds took us a little of the experience, but we still had a good time and watched the locals go down on small dunes and having the time of their life.

For my mum's birthday dinner we went to a nice restaurant/bar, which was run by an Irish and spoiled us with nice food and a lovely surprise birthday cake. It was a beautiful day and we had a good time together. And stories like a fancy restaurant which didn't have any wine available and we almost had to go ourselves to the next door shop to buy a bottle will always stay in our memory.

Happy Birthday!
