09.03.2012 Temma, Tasmania, Australia

Next morning, after a breakfast for winners at Jodi's place, Carolyn and Rob came by to pick us up for a trip to the west coast. Carolyn worked with me 11 years ago at the Tullah Lakeside Chalet. Within no time she and her family became some of my dearest friends. We had so much fun and they took me out to see places and do crazy stuff, like going to the Henty dunes to go with the bikes play in the sand!

This time they took us to (T)emma, a small settlement on the north west coast. Their friend has a shack there where we could stay.

We had beautiful weather when we arrived and the shack had everything we needed for a beautiful weekend together. It had this big window facing over a beautiful bay.

Rob took the two quad bikes out and we went together for a nice ride through the dunes and along the beach. I had so much fun on the bike in this amazing surrounding. We almost got stuck in the water when trying to drive through it and went fast over the shore of the beach with the sun slowly settling settling down.

We went for a stroll along the beach and enjoyed the sea air and beautiful views and the sand under our shoes.

As their friends brother is a commercial fisher, we had the fishing boat right in front of us and were blessed and welcomed with a nice "stripy" from this mornings catch.

This fish is very popular on the Asian and specially on the Japanese market and sold for premium dollars.

Rodney was so kind to filet the fish for us and I started the BBQ as I wanted to marinate it and grill one half of it for dinner. We prepared some salad to eat with it.

The evening atmosphere was breathtaking and romantic and it felt good to be together with such lovely friends to enjoy a setting like this.

The fish was delicious and nothing except of beautiful memories was left.

As the bay offers not only beautiful views, but also abalone, fresh fish and supposedly also squid, we tried to catch some as well. I had a lot of contact. I still want to believe it was only seaweed which bit on by hook, but a huge squid which fought for a while before releasing my hook again. Next time I'm gonna get him!

The sunsets were amazing and we loved to sit together and enjoy this time of the day together.

As we were fortunate with the weather, we could take the kayaks out to paddle in the almost flat water of the bay. Bondi the dog was excited running around and having a good time on his own.

It was such a beautiful day and even the water felt warm so I went for a swim. The first moment it feels a little chilly, but it gets warmer with every moment you are in. Rob let me have some fun with their radio controlled boat later on that day and I enjoyed to see the whippersnapper powered boat speed over the water.

As this area is a perfect habitat for crayfish, the harvest can be very successful but you know what kind of fisherman I am!
On one evening I even managed to get Chrisy on a bike and I taught her how to ride a quad bike. After a slow start she became more and more confident and at the end of our excursion she was flying with me holding tide on to her over the beach. What a blast!

So we enjoyed playing some games in the evening and had a good laugh.

As their friends where coming for a stay with a little baby, we helped reorganizing and cleaning the shack a little bit. We had a lot of fun and together we mad big progress within no time and definitely had an impact on it's appearance.

Thank you so much for this unforgettable weekend filled with great food, fun, great atmosphere and YOU! Love you guys and hope we can do this soon again! Take care Carolyn and Rob!

I can only say: "I had the time of my life!" (Chrisy)
And I would say: "AAAIIIIII HAAAAAAAAD THE TAAAAIIIMME OF MAY LAAAAIFE!!!"

So after this beautiful weekend we drove back to Burnie and we met up with Jodi.

We had stripy for lunch from the BBQ and as I decided we didn't see enough of each other we checked her diary and luckily she was able to juggle her appointments around and join us to go camping in Tullah that evening and go to Cradle Mountain the next day.

She followed a couple of hours later and I had time to show Chrisy around in my old hometown and my old workplace. Some things changed, some are still the same, it's definitely not the same as the people working there are not the same.

We camped close to the chalet next to the boat jetty, had a fire and ate some spaghetti and drank one or two drinks over the run of the evening before going to bed as the gathered pile of wood was gone in the fire and we didn't think the forest would give more anymore.
